Can't play multiplayer on Titanfall 2

I have a physical disc for titanfall 2. I have installed it and even completed the campaign, but I can't play multiplayer. It gives some error: "error while connecting to PSN". Also there is an update of around 16 GB that pops up everytime I launch the game. Do I really need to download this update to play multiplayer? BTW I have the game installed on a PS4 pro
