sims medieval serial code won't work on sims3.com

I bought The Sims Medieval on steam and am playing on windows 10 so I cannot open the game and all forums that I've read have told be to register my CD-key through sims3.com but every time I try to, copy and pasting and typing either character out individually, it says that the serial code is invalid...
