Sims 3: Late Night

Hello! So I run Sims 3 off of Origin on my 2015 Macbook. And I have noticed 2 problems.
The first is when I update my Sims 3, none of my expansions are compatible with the game anymore and I have to uninstall all of them, redownload without the update and the game works fine.
The second is I have High End, Season, and Pets downloaded expansions, but Late Night caused an "unknown error occured" before the game launched. When I uninstall the expansion the game works fine. (without the Sims 3 update).
I can't just update the game because then none of my expansions want to work, but I need to do the update eventually. Please help

Let's start with the "unknown error", ok? Please, take a look to this thread, and the solution suggested by corey_0401.
Regarding the update issue, are you installing the update through Origin? You installed your games through Origin, right?
