A Weird Crash Issue with my Mouse?

Hey! So I've had this issue for about a year and it's recurring. I play the Sims 3 on my MacBook Pro. Sometimes the gameplay is great, where it doesn't lag. Occasionally, however, my game will freeze for a second or two, and then my mouse switches from the Sims 3 Blue Mouse to the Apple Black Mouse, and it won't move no matter how long I wait. I can't click, move, or scroll. It always results in me having to Force Quit my game and lose all of my progress.

Help?

Can you please also move out your Sims 3 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts onto the Desktop and relaunch your game. It will be like new again but all your saves/CC etc. are safe in the folder you moved. Play a new game for a while and see if it still crashes.
