Windows 8 Crash

[ Edited ]
★★ Guide

I am a very seasoned gamer. I just got a new computer that has Windows 8. The game runs extremely well. I played the game for about 2 hours without saving when all of a sudden it crashed. I am not sure if the crash had anything to do with edge scrolling because without the Sims running my screen will flip to Apps if when the mouse is moved to a corner.

Anyhow, when my game crashed I got this message:

Re: Windows 8 Question About Crashing

Nevermind I fixed the problem by going into Documents, Electronic Arts, The Sims 3, Contentpatch, download and then deleting all the files with .part in the end.

My game stopped crashing. The partial updates did not delete themselves after updating my content.

I did not lose the progress of my game. I managed to copy, save and rename the folder with the title CurrentGame.sims3 before my computer closed the game out. Then, I placed the renamed folder into my Saves folder.

I am just curious about what that message means for my game.

Oh...I just went to do a dxdiag and realized that the message is the part from the dxdiag containing the problem! How cool!

So, now I'd like to know what is causing the crash?
