Used Registration Code

Hey EA, I would like to ask a question. Yesterday, I purchased The Sims 3, I had little money so I bought a used PC version. As the game downloaded it asked me for a registration code, which i had. As I typed in my registration code my game booted up normal. Right when it was about to let me play it told me my game was not verified. I went online and verified my code but it said my code was used. I am assuming this is because I bought a used game... Please help EA I would be very grateful.
