Un-installing expansion packs

I am having trouble un-installing ambitions expansion pack and world adventures. They failed to un-install properly and now I can't re-install it until i've completely got rid of them.
I've tried with the disk and it wont work, i've tried without the disk through 'remove a programme' and it comes up with an error code!
Any tips???
I really want to add my new expansion pack but don't want to mess things up further :P

Try uninstalling following the instructions here: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Uninstall
It tells you how to remove invalid registry entries and such. Afterwards you should be able to reinstall
