The sims 3: unable to start game. service initialization failed (0x0175dcbb)

hi, so i've tried so many things and NOTHING has worked. The launcher was unable to open before so I took a suggestion to bypass the launcher and now this comes up!
I did have cc but i took it all out, i deleted all caches, all files in thumbnail folder. I am on a Macbook Pro. Please help me! 
Details:
OS X Version 10.8.4
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

If those don't help, I would suggest posting in the mac forum at thesims3.com (make sure your language is set to US): http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/forums/show/205.page since macs are not well covered on the AnswerHQ.
