Switching to apple

★ Novice
Currently I use a laptop with widows 7 for my sims 3 and expansions.
I just ordered a MacBook Pro online.
Will I be able to play my same game? I know how to download my game from origin. (I've done it before but only between windows laptops) but will I be able to do it on an apple or will I need to buy new ones?
The games I have say win/Mac DVD rom software.

If it says Win/Mac or whatever it says on it, as long as it says mac, then it'll still work with your apple computer, if you have any that dont say MAC on them anywhere, you wanna get another one that does. You want to pay attention to the games and if they say that on them, becuase Sims 1, 2, 3, and 4 are all based on Windows computers so if they dont say Win/MAC on them, even if you really want that game, it won't work on your laptop. Like Sims 4 is only available on windows computers on september 2, so yeah you'll just have to wait until it comes out on mac. Thats what I'm doing, I just got a ton of new games I've never played before and just waiting until it comes out for MAC. So I hope I helped!!! Confusedmileyhappy:Confusedmileytongue:Confusedmileywink:

Hi

Yes, you should be able to play the game on your Macbook Pro, as long as it has a graphics card that will work with the game. You will need to make sure you use the Mac-specific version of Origin. You won't need to buy your games again - you should find them registered within Origin. See below for further tips.

To download and install games through Origin

Download and install the Origin client for Mac and make sure it is up-to-date. If you already have Origin on your Mac but are having problems with downloading or installing games, delete the client and download a new copy (this sometimes fixes issues with downloading). The latest version can be downloaded from here: http://www.dm.origin.com/mac/download

Additional advice on how to download games (thank you Tremayne for this tip):
When downloading from Origin, do NOT use the first install icon. Move your cursor over the game cover and click on the information (letter i) and then click on the install button from there. For some reason, downloads from Origin frequently become corrupted. Using the i reduces the chance of your download being corrupted. If you have already been unfortunate and have a corrupted download, then it is important to remove all traces of this before trying again, by doing a thorough, clean uninstallation first.

Are you running anti-virus software or any clean-up applications? If so, disable these, as they might be deleting files that Origin needs. A fast, stable internet connection will also help you.

Storing Origin download installer files:

If you are going to change your computer, or just need to uninstall/reinstall your game, you may wish to set your preferences in Origin to save your installers. This will avoid you needing to re-download the games again.

In Origin, go to Preferences. Choose “Advanced” and look in the section entitled “Game Installers”. Tick the box to “Keep game installers after games have been installed”. Choose a location in which you would like the files to be saved (for example, create a folder in Documents ready to receive these files).
