Story Progression

I have story progression off on my Sims 3 game, and aging off as well. However, my inactive Sims are still marrying and having children and, the part that is the biggest problem for me, dying. I have had this Sims 3 disc for several years, and have had this problem off and on. I am afraid it may be something wrong with my game itself. Is there any way I can fix this, or would the only solution be to buy a new main disc?

Very interesting, I've never heard of this before. 

• Does this happen in all your saves? 
• Are you running any mods?
