Sims portrait not showing up

On the blue thing on the bottom where the selected Sims portrait is usually there is blank. The thing on the side where all of the family members are is gone. It says they have 0 dollars and where the arrow button is to look at the needs, work, etc doesn't work. Help please!

Sounds like the save game corrupted.
