Sims 3 will not update!

I keep getting an error when launching the game saying that i can not launch game when it is updating... THE GAME IS NOT UPDATING OR DOWNLOADING ANYTHING! There is no status bar indicating any sort of update.

HELP!

Try empting your windows\temp folder
