Sims 3 pets fullbuild1.package won't work

Hey, 

I have Sims 3 Pets and have it downloaded on an older windows 7 laptop. I'm now trying to install it on my windows 8 newer laptop, and when installing pets, it stops at "fullbuild1.package" and a message pops up that an error has occured and asks if I would like to retry. When I click retry, it goes back a couple of steps and then gets stuck at the same spot over and over again. Does anybody know how to fix this?? It works fine on my other laptop, and the base game installed no problems.

Is the error - crc error? Some people have posted it works after they defrag their system hard drive.
