Sims 3 launcher has stopped working error message

★★★★ Novice

Here's the story, I purchased The Sims 3 disc for PC a few days ago. I have windows 7, and I realize the game wasn't really made for it to perform perfectly on windows 7 due to it not being released yet when the game was released. I downloaded it, but when I try to play it, I get an error message that says "Sims3Launcher has stopped working." I figured out how to play by doing the bin/game/TS3 thing, but when I try to download custom content from the Sims 3 store it has to go through the Sims 3 launcher, which doesn't work, can someone please tell me how to fix the launcher for it to work again. Hey,

Windows 7 should not be the issue. I have Win 7 and don't have major issues.

So you're saying you always go the launcher error from the very beginning ? What I usually tell people to to with this error ist the Reset to factory setting method described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/Troubleshooting-Steps/m-p/714/message-uid/714#U714.

Also are you using Origin and is that updated to the newest version ?

Here is the fix of Sims 3 issues for following issue:

1. An unexpected error is occured. please try again later.

2. An unknown error occurred. please try again later.

3. Unhandled page exception.

4. Sims3.exe was stopped working, please see the log for more details.

5. Appcrash issues.

6. Freezing issues.

Workaround Fix:

Please go to electronics arts folder under booting drive and rename this folder.

Once you renamed this folder, please copy this folder and paste it to desktop. (It will work as backup in future).

Now try to reload your game and then try to play this game.

Once you able to play your game, let’s play this game for 2-3 hours and then try to restore your backup if necessary.

This will work for PC and MAC issues both.

This did not work for me, unless I completely misunderstood step one.  Can anyone make it simpler for me or let me know if you had to do something else?  Thanks!

I've upgraded to win7. When I reinstall just Sims 3 from Origin.

I got Sims 3 launcher has stopped working. I update Sims 3/ origin/ all my drivers and win7.

And still not working. I can play by skipping the launcher but I want to use downloaded content.

I'm having the same issue everyone here is having,it worked in the past then it started doing this THE SIMS 3 LAUNCHER STOPPED WORKING, I tried everything. The base game works but i have to bypass n play thru folder. My expansions wont work only my base game I paid alot of money for my games i'd like it if they would work properly "the right way" instead of having to bypass this n that... I cant even update my games because of this launcher issue.. THIS ISSUE IS NOT SOLVED for everybody..
