Sims 3 create a world tool can't find my game?

I just downloaded the create a world tool to my laptop and it doesn't work, it keeps telling me "the Sims 3 game data was not found. The Sims 3 Create a world tool- Beta may not function properly." I click okay and nada..... I have a registered game, so what have I done wrong? Please help!

The world tool seems to have quite a few problem atm.

Do you have the Steam Version of the game by chance ? Are you patched to 1.42 ?
