[Mac] Sims 3 Pets not working

I installed the Sims 3 Pets game but when I went to play the Sims, that expansion pack isn't in the game. What can I do to make it work?

Is the game showing up in your Applications > The Sims 3 folder?

Is it showing as highlighted or greyed out at the bottom of the Launcher?

Did you install the game via disc or digital download?
