Sims 3 Pets from PC to Mac

Alright, so, in 2012 (I think, around then) I purchased Sims 3 + the Sims pet expansion. I played them on my PC for a bit then I got a mac and installed and played on there. I then got rid of my mac. 

We have since then, gotten rid of the PC and I got a new macbook pro without the disk drive. I went to install the games today, and it will let me install the base game, but not the pets expansion. I have also lost the pets expansion pamphlet containing the serial number (which I do believe is one-time use anyway, so won't be able to re-use it!) but still have the disk. I'm really stuck, and would love to play again but I'm not sure what to do.. any ideas?
