Sims 3 Generations expansion pack won't install?

My laptop is brand new. I just installed the Sims 3 a few days ago and now I am downloading the Sims 3 Generations Expansion. It is 100% loaded. But when I click 'install' it loads for a few seconds, then a message comes up saying 'Setup cannot continue because programs associated with the Sims 3 are currently running. Please stop these applications before attempting to run the Sims 3 Generations setup.'

I don't know what to do! I've restarted my laptop 3 times, taken the disk out and putting it back in, and closing the launher. Help!

Try clearing out your windows\temp folder. Also check if any process with ts3 are running on your computer when you start the task manager.
