Sims 3 Game Launcher Unable to Connect to Origin

I downloaded Origin and downloaded the Sims 3.  Then I bought the Island Paradise expansion pack and downloaded it.  In order for it to finish installing it says I have to open my game launcher and update it.  My game launcher says it is unable to connect to origin.  I have done everything I can think of to get it to connect to origin, including uninstalling and reinstalling, but nothing is working.  The whole reason I downloaded the Sims 3 was to play this expansion pack.  Please help!

you need the base game to be patched to 1.67. Look at the bottom left hand corner of your launcher for your patch number. If you are not patched to 1.67 use the superpatch http://help.ea.com/en/article/the-sims-3-super-patcher/
