Sims 3 Crashing [ Edited ]

For the past 2 days I have been unable to save my game.  Every time I have tried saving, the processing logo comes up and begins to load like normal, however both yesterday and today I had left the game running for almost an hour while I waited for the game to save and shut down.  I've had to manually close the game without saving every time and have therefore lost any progress within the last 2 days.  I thought it may have been system maintenance, but seeing as how its been 2 days, I feel as though it is something else.  Help!

Have you already tried everything that is explained here?

Save Errors (Error 12, 13, 15, 16)

While saving I get the error message: "Error 12 (or 13 or 15 or 16). Please see Read-Me for more information".

Game Crashes (CTD)

My game crashes to the desktop without a warning.
