Putting Sims 3 short cuts into a single folder on desktop

I wanted to know if it was a safe thing to do. I read somewhere previously before that doing this would cause issues with the game and launcher. However, I have not been able to find that information anywhere on whether to do it or not in quite some time. I just want to clean up some space on my desktop without deleting the short cuts.

yes you can for desktop shortcuts for any program shortcut icon just saves time looking for to launch the program  leave the icon you play the game from where you can see it and launch the game from  ( it's the excutable's  that you don't want to mess around with )
