Not allowing me to register using my new origin code

I just bought the game from origin yesterday, mac download. I want to download old sims that were created a long time ago by my other account, but it won't allow me to unless my game is registered. When I try to register my gave by going to my account, it is telling me my code is invalid, the code I am copy and pasting (and also typing out one by one!) straight from the origin app. Not sure how to fix this!

They should auto-register.
