My sims game won't start?

I just recently bought the generations expansion pack from origin. It installed correctly and downloaded fine, but when i tried to start my game, it wouldn't do anything. The sims three launcher came up and it would let me press the play button, but after that, it would just dissapear and nothing would happen. When the launcher came up, it said "Unable to connect to EA download manager" which makes me think that has something to do with it?
