I'm confused

I've installed the sims 3 without a problem and it's working great. The problem appeared when I tried to insall the extension packs into this computer. I would click on download and they would imediatly send it to download manager where it seems to stay on pause. I tryed clicking on start several times but nothing happens. I tryed running origin as an administrator but still nothing is going on. what shoud I do?

@raluck  Is your computer a pc or mac? Do you have any third party antivirus or adware software installed? Where did you purchase the packs?
