I can't play The Sims 3 on my MacBook Pro

I recently downloaded TS3 on my new MacBook Pro. Then I downloaded a patch to update the Launcher to download custom content. Everything went fine for a few days. Then I downloaded in succesion World Adventures, Ambitions, Fast Lane Stuff, and High-End Loft Stuff. After I finished, I wanted to play for a bit. I clicked the logo and it asked if I would like to update to the latest version. After clicking "Yes", I waited for it to download. After it finished, an error box appeared saying "Unknown error occurred". The same updating question happens for all the games. What's happening?!

I'm not sure if there's a solution but I'm not a mac user and don't know much about it.
