How do i create my buildings in the world?

If you bought a lot off of the sims 3 store or downloaded it from the exchange, you will find it in edit town mode. You can get into edit town mode by clicking the three dots button (where you go to save) and clicking edit town. Once in edit town mode, there are households lined up under a tab at the bottom of your screen and the tab that they are under is represented by a house icon. Next to the house icon there are two other icons, click on the bench icon. A new line will pop up but they are not households but community lots! Click on the lot that you want to place in you town and click on a lot that is available. If there are no lots available, you can edit your world even more by clicking on the pencil and square icon (located near to the button where you accessed edit town). This button allows you to select a lot size. Choose a lot size that is the size (or is bigger in size) of your lot. After this you just go and place your community lot on that available lot.
