Graphics Issue with Sims 3 and Spore

I got a brand new computer this year because my old computer was nearly 10 years old.  However, on my new computer, the Sims 3 pets appear black and the creatures that appear in Spore when you first walk on land appear blue.  I had neither of these issues on my old computer and my daughter doesn't have these issues on her computer which is about a year old.  I'd really like some help in this.

@JHellraiser New does not always mean better. The processor does not meet specifications for this game. You need to check to see if there is a newer graphics device driver. The integrated graphics chip is known to have issues with Sims 3 and is not very powerful. Integrated graphics chips usually don't have dedicated memory - memory is borrowed from main memory.

I went to the Acer website and downloaded the driver updates available, one of which was for the chipset. After doing that, I went on my Sims game and my pets are now in color.
