Game keeps crashing & not enough virtual memory. Windows 8.1 problem?

Ever since I updated to Windows 8.1, The Sims 3 keeps crashing and stopping because it says I'm low on virtual memory. This makes no sense as I believe I have more than enough as my RAM is still quite high, so my virtual memory should be similarly high?

 

I never get an error code when the game crashes, it just says it's crashed or has stopped working.

 

I've been scouring the internet for fixes, but nothing has helped that I've tried so far. Any tips would be appreciated.

 

I've got the base game, Ambitions, World Adventures, Late Night, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, & Seasons. Updated to latest patch.

VItual Memory has nothing to do with RAM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_memory
