Free simpoints

I have registered 5 EPs for the sims 3, but I have not got any free sim points. Can I get some? If so how do I get them?

free simpoints only come with the sims 3 base game a.k.a. the normal one and with world adventures , so do you have world adventures and didn't get points for it ?
