Cyclic Redundancy Error while installing?

★★★ Newbie

Every time I go to install The Sims 3, a message stating there was a cyclic redundancy check error pops up, specifically mentioning a Sunset Valley file.

Yes, my disk is legally purchased from Target and I have the system requirements (Windows Vista).

I've installed the game before on the same computer and have had little to no issues playing it, but had to replace my hard drive after the original crashed (nothing to do with the game, just a general bad virus).

Therefore, I lost everything, so I assumed I would just be able to install the game again. Apparently not the case.

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with me using a game code bought off Amazon (I purchased the PC download from the actual Amazon seller because I lost my original game code). I tried installing it with and without the disk (with the same code), but the same error message appears.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance!
