Activation code not working

My mom just bought this game. It's the sims 3 pack and I tried downloading it and it says the code has already been used. But how it's a brand new game from Walmart. And I can't take it back because they said because of the code so idk what to do.

@Kapreeee21  Did you enter the code more then once? Does the game appear in Origin? The game software on the disc is dated. It is better to install from Origin - redeem game code - and download from Origin. I recommend contacting EA customer EA customer service to verify the code has already been used. The vendor (Walmart) is responsible to sell you a good product. If the vendor refuses to help you after it is found there is an issue with the code, I recommend contacting the financial institution (credit/debit card) or if you paid cash contact the Better Business  Bureau. I recommend purchasing items like this with a bank card as you can usually contest the purchase with the card issuer.
