A required secuity module cannot be activated? What does this mean

My Sims 3 game was working and now i have installed the Sims 3 Generations, when I try to start the game it says "A required security module cannot be activated" why is it saying this and what do i do to fix it?

Is that the download version ?

Sounds like a problem with SecuROM. Do you have any cd emulator programs or any other programs that could cause a conflict ?
