Has anyone tried the old trick of deleting the accessory and groups cache from the Sims 2 folder?

That was suggested as a possible fix on the forum at  Mod the Sims.  I tried it, and the game opens fine for me now.

I have the same problem as everyone else (I will upload the report layer, I'm on my ipad) so I copied my Paul.dll from my sims 3 base game to my sims 2 ultimate collection pets file. It resulted in the game demanding me to insert a disc. I have never played the sims 2 on my computer before, with or without a disc, and I installed through Origin. My sims 3 was also downloaded through origin, so I have no sims discs at all. When I tried removing my Paul.dll file all together the same result happened, but when I place the dll from sims 2 back in, it doesn't do anything. Did I do something wrong when copying my dll file? Is there something wrong with my download?

Okay, so I figured it out! I was using the wrong Paul.dll. When I searched, there were a lot that came up, but I only picked the first. When I looked at them again, I noticed a few we're different so I put one of those in and my game came up right away! Thank you so much!

My operating system is Windows 7. The anti-virus software I have installed if Trend, which came with my laptop. I do not have Nero installed but I do have "CyberLink Media Suite" which is a software that came with my laptop. It is used to burn CDs.

Is there a way to just stop the game from trying to go online oin order to function ?

Like 3-5 weeks ago it worked fine only one thing I noticed when I quit the program windows error message pop up and says program crashed and show me the 3 option (look for solution on internet, close it and something else). Today I wanted to play with it and it doesn't even start, next to the cursor it show the circle moving(so it's loading) when it disappear in like 5-10 sec error message pop and says 'Az alkalmazás hibát észlelt, ezért most leáll.' in english it could be like 'application has crashed will now terminate' or something like this. When i run the perfom /rel it does not show anything with the Sims 2 today, but back whan I last played with it and after the quit it crashed have something. I will post it here maybe it can help. Oh, one more thing, Sims2EP9.exe shows up in the task manager so i'm sure it starts but something bad happens.

  Tried the compabiliti mod with run as admin did not work. Tried to repair in Origin and still not working.
  
  Maybe not related to this but when I run dxdiag it crash and when I run it again it says it may could not reach the Direct3D and offers me to run dxdiag without the Direct3D if I click on yes to leave it out it can run normally but if i click no it crash again. I do not know it has anything to do with Sims 2.
  
  

It's fixed now, had to make a clean instal of nvidia driver after this worked again.
