I bought a copy of the Sims 2 Double Deluxe, problems with the disk

Ok, so recently I bought the sims 2 double deluxe and some DLC for it, now, the game does not work at all, trying to create a sim causes the game to crash. I can provide proof I have a copy by taking a picture of it by by this forum post.

Would you be willing to try to uninstall and re-install the game? if you are, you can back up your saves by following the steps in this article.
