I'm having the same issue, only just started today. I've tried all the solutions in this thread, including uninstalling Origin and reinstalling it via the link provided, but still no luck.
It worked fine last night when I was playing, only just seems to have started today.

Just spent two hours chatting to an EA assistant on the chat to see if they could help, but nothing they suggested worked. Then they just closed the chat and I received an email to say the issue had been 'resolved' even though I told them it still is not working! Is there any way to fix this problem?

@Wicky30 According to the top men we put on the case, the error message comes from the game after it is launched. As a result, the OER is no help in this particular case, because it tracks errors with Origin launching the game, which it seems to do without problem.
We'll escalate this to the studio and let you know what their take on this is, and what elements they need from you for troubleshooting.

Okay thank you. That's really helpful. The message comes up once I press play on The Sims 4; the screen goes black as if they game is going to start, but then goes back to the desktop screen with the error message. Thanks again.
