My origin keeps saying online login is unavailable

So I bought the sims 3 recently. I put the disc into my pc and opened origin, but it keeps saying you must be online to go on or Online login is unavailable . I really want to play the Sims 3, so it seems like I wasted 20 bucks since origin wont work. Please tell me how I can login without that happening on my pc.
