I can't kick or punch when on ufc 2 in a fight

I can do everything like punch in a clinch or on the ground I can do akedowns and everything but now my punching and kicks have stopped working it won't let me use an punched or kicks unless I'm on the ground or in clinch

Try pressing both analog sticks down like a button, this has resolved this or a similar issue for other players.

I am having the exact same problem. It seems to be a glitchy while using the original Xbox one controllers. I press the 2 analog stick and I can punch/kick once and only once. I am not about to buy another controller. What is happening with fixing this issue!? It is a 2 year old game already.
