Defensive players run the wrong way after an interception

After one of my defensive players makes an interception, they turn to run the same direction the offense was going in instead of heading towards their own endzone to score. It is particularly obvious on plays where they are driving towards the ball and get the pick and instead of just continuing to run that same direction they turn and head upfield causing them to get tackled by the offense. Seems like once they catch the ball the game sees them as an offensive player for a second, until the camera switches direction.

I'm surprised that no one else is talking about this because I have it too. I came here looking for an answer to it.
