DXGI_ERROR_Device_Hung with new Nvidia Driver

★★ Novice

0x887A0006 - DXGI_ERROR_Device_Hung happens once ALT+TAB (game is in borderless full screen) out on Frontier Defense at ~ end of first wave.

Happens since I upgraded my driver for the Destiny 2 Beta.

Programs that may influence the game in background:

  • MSI Afterburner (not configured - only monitoring)
  • Corsair LINK
  • F.lux
  • Wallpaper Engine
  • Avira Antivirus

All other posts & suggestions didn't work for me and seemed outdated. So I created a new topic because it only happens since I updated my drive (before and after the game update from 2017-08-29).

Some magic did happen on my PC (I don't know what exactly helped) but suddenly it won't crash anymore.

What I did:

  • I deactivated automatic windows drivers.
  • I uninstalled every nvidia component (Geforce Driver, Experience, Shadow Play, ...)
  • Ran CCleaner (Clean + Registry Fixer)
  • Restarted PC
  • Installed Geforce Experience
  • Installed Nvidia Driver manually via Geforce Experience

Maybe this helps someone.

@Sgt_Cambo Thanks for the post. You mention 3rd party programs, have you tried a Clean Boot to ensure that they're not a factor?

If this has no effect, can you go into your nvidia settings and try turning down the various post-processing options? Perhaps a particular effect/technology is a factor rather than the entire driver?
