Connection issues for PC

Hi, we recently purchased the PC version PVZ GW2 for my son. We created a EA account but it has not allowed us to connect to the servers. We have done all of the online troubleshooting and nothing is working. We have tried signing into the EA account then going onto origin that way but it still says can't connect to servers. How do we overcome this problem?
