Be a Pro Jersey Number- NHL 17

I choose a prefered number in a Be a Pro mode. When I was drafted by Toronto, I was given a different number, 39 instead of 37. Figured it was unavailable so I went to edit player and changed it. I saved changes but still #39. Tried multiple times to no avail. Any way to fix this?
