Linking EA and XBox 1 accounts

Hoping someone can help me.

Just opened an EA account (via origin) and I am trying to link my Xbox 1 account to it. They have different email addresses.

I see some posts saying to just log into Origin, Select "Add friends" under the freinds menu, and then "Import from Xbox gamertag".

However, when I use the Origin Friend dropdown, the only option I have is "Search for friends by their Public ID, real name or email address.". Is there any way I can import my Gamertag other than this?

Right now the best thing to do would be to bring this directly to EA Advisors https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/new/. They can link your accounts manually in no time.
