Cargo ship dock

If I have packed all three shipments into the cargo boat, do I have to press cast off to receive the golden key? Sometimes, I don't want to force the next boat to come in 6 hours and I would rather wait. I also don't want to miss getting the key if I might not be able to come back before the boat leaves. In otherwords, if everything is packed, time runs out and the boat leaves, will I automatically get the golden key and the 6 hour clock will start?

Well you could always try it and see what happens, however i do believe that you miss the opportunity to receive the key.

Since the boat is docked for quite some time there isn't a need to worry.

Well don't try this  if you are uncertain of your coming back in the stipulated time if you do not press the button before the ship leaves you will not get the key but the 6 hour timer will start
