I have been unable to launch the game ever since the new launcher updated. After clicking "play" on the new launcher, the launcher grays out with blue animated circle implying it is doing something, but the game itself never launches, the blue circle just keeps animating seemingly forever. I launched the launcher in admin mode. I have win 7 pro 64bit.

Given its swtor.exe is appearing it may still be AV related , ensure the game shortcut is running as administrator as well
try a game repair as well , I doubt the repair utility will fix that, was thinking it may be on the launcher side still.
Details to repair

What Antivirus is used ?
Initially remove and re-add exceptions for both launcher.exe and swtor.exe to the AV and Firewall White Lists.
See if this has any affect

I am using F-secure client security. I will try to check firewall/antivirus permissions. Usually F-secure pops up a prompt when there has been changes to ask if its ok for a given program to operate or contact the net, but this time there was none. Sometimes it doesn't react automatically but I don't know why.

Try the launcher repair utility found here -
http://answers.ea.com/t5/STAR-WARS-The-Old-Republic/Guide-Launcher-Troubleshooting/m-p/4805820#2
This places a fresh copy of the launcher files
I suspect that the AV and Firewall Exceptions maybe the cause of the launcher behavior so worth checking first

I removed and re-applied swtor.exe and launcher.exe to the f-secure allowed list. The situation however has not changed. Game is still not launching.
swtor.exe *32 process that takes 116 kilobytes of memory appears in the process management. Could it be that the game is trying to launch a 32 bit version of the game? I have 64 bit windows 7..?
edit: note, launcher.exe persists in the process management even if I close the launcher down from the upper right corner.
I am going to try this launcher repair utility thing next.

I downloaded and ran the launcher repair utility. It completed succesfully and launched the launcher automatically afterwards. Problem persists, same thing, animated circle but no game.

I did not see letters "ST" in the launcher window, but my game directory did have "bitraider" directory in it. I deleted it, ran the launcher in admin mode and now the game launched. This is the first time I have ran into the bitraider thing that Ive read about on the forums..
Anyway, situation resolved. Thank you.

ps. Why is this bitraider thing here if it all it causes are problems?
