Non-Streaming launcher - Log into the launcher but don't click Play. Check for small letters "ST" in the bottom left corner.
If this is NOT present, click the cog icon and then run the repair option.
Streaming launcher - If the letters "ST" is present, close the launcher, right mouse click on the game shortcut,
select open file location and delete the BitRaider folder. Then start the launcher

Get rid of the BitRaider client :

Navigate to : C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars-The Old Republic
Delete the BitRaider sub directory.
Valid for Win 7 / 8 / 10 TP

Open the launcher.settings file with Notepad and change the following :

, "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"BR\" }"
, "bitraider_download_complete":
{ "swtor": true
}
, "bitraider_disable": false

To:

, "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\" }"
, "bitraider_download_complete":
{ "swtor": false
}
, "bitraider_disable": true

ATTENTION tho : It will redownload the game assetts and videos, which is a 25 GB download, so it may be a wee bit long on slower connections.

I'm having the same issue and ive tried both of those solutions but I couldn't find a BitRaider folder or anything on my pc.

If neither solution worked, try downloading the launcher repair utility and run it.  It may restore any missing files:

Repair utility is located here

Also I would add swtor.exe and launcher.exe to your anti-virus and Firewall safe list.  They could be blocking or deleting files.

If the repair doesn't work, after you add the exe files to your safe lists, run another repair and then try again.

@lordsawyer

The game should be closed when you try to delete the bitraider folder , deleting that folder is a quicker way to do this here
