That is a great idea, we do actually already plan on introducing some SWTOR themed avatars, but they are still in the workshop at this time. Our goal has been to get the new forums up and running prior to the expansion.
Now that we are set up, we can look at tweaking things.
Hopefully will be something they bring in to answers HQ - as the website allows your Swtor characters. Seems to be quite limited on swtor stuff , I suspect that may be beyond the swtor mods here's ability - lets hope they see the post and introduce them ! Except Jar Jar ! (at least there are no gungans! )

The main hurdle are the format differences, we want them to look nice so we have to see how to best go about handling the required scaling.
As far as an outlook for the road map goes, another smaller quality of life change will be that we want to edit the space at the top and on the right hand side to suit it more to SWTOR (e.g. implement links to the server status page, patch notes, all that jazz).
Will there be the ability to upload images for Custom Avatars? Or will the potential for this to be exploited ensure that it is inevitably a hard 'No'?
I don't want to rule out that we will make avatar customization available at some point (e.g. for frequent users of the site), but it is not something to expect in the short to medium term future.
