"failed to connect to the game session" plants vs zombies

I play turf takeover all the time however as of last night and today I can't get into a game session. I am able to play in the current gnome challenge without a problem so I do not believe the issue is on my end.  

I start up the multiplayer portal...go in and it does the search and finds a game...sits there (longer than usual for me) then I get that error "failed to connect to the game session".

Not sure what is going on. I did a full reboot and still no luck. Please advise.
