Sims 3 Medieval Launcher is Transparent

I tried following the instructions in the first link but then there wasn't the launcher or the game, so it didn't seem to work for me. The launcher is transparent with just a few words barely visible, minus the play button. It keeps promting me to install updates even though it concludes, saying my user info isn't compatible or something.  I redeemed it from Origin since my game disk doesn't work so atm the game is pretty inaccessible
