simcity societies wont launch after i click play on the game launch screen

how do i get it to play because i really want to be able to play the game.

It's nine years old now.  There was no such thing as Windows 7, 8, 0r 10.  You almost certainly have to use compatibility settings.  (Hmm?  My cut & paste failed!  Trying again!

CPU Speed:     1.7 GHz. (2.4 GHz or higher for Vista)
RAM:     512 MB (Windows Vista requires 1GB RAM)
OS:     Windows XP/Vista
Video Card:     128 MB 3D Video Card - Supported chipsets: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 or greater; ATI Radeon 9600 or greater; onboard chipsets not supported. Windows Vista requires an NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater, ATI Radeon X800 or greater. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported.

With so little data to work with, we offered you the only suggestion possible (generic).  Not having heard further, we can only assume the problem is solved now.

I have the same problem with the same error dialogue.  I had the game installed from DVD and it ran.  I added it into my Origin account and can not launch it from the Origin platform.  I uninstalled the DVD installation and re-downloaded/installed it through Origin directly, and I am still getting the same error.  The game will run on Windows 7, and more specifically on my computer, but it will not run through Origin.  My system exceeds the system requirements for the game, but for demonstrative purposes, here they are:

System Specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (Service Pack 1)

Intel Core i7-4790 (8 CPUs) 3.6GHz

16.0GB DDR4

DirectX 11 installed

NVIDIA GeForce GTX960 4.0GB

2560x1440 Resolution

OS Drive=C:  160GB SATA 6.0  (42GB free)

Installation Drive=D:  750GB SATA 6.0 (105GB free)
