I am having the same problem, my game flashes "A/Enter to continue" and doesn't respond. It doesn't crash, I just can't progress or backtrack. I bought it through Origin and have reinstalled multiple times and tried various compatibility modes and googled for hours and I can't find a fix to actually play the game. Between this and Burnout Paradise I'm at a complete loss.

My game does this also. I think this is a serious problem...

it is not a serious problem.
read carefuly all i said in previus page and make sure you complette all steps.
if doesen't work (90% will be fine) reinstal your OS and first time after this instal your grafic driver and than the game with all patches starting from 1.
after this complete your other drivers, programs, antivirus and test the game after every step.
this will give you the answer and you should post it here for others
good luck!
sorry for my bad englesh.

I updated my drivers, but I can't patch the game. I have all the patches downloaded, but it can't find the path to the game in my program files, so the only way I can patch it is when I'm prompted to when I start the game on Origin for the first time.

if you guys read ALL i posted before on this subject and nothing works: reinstal OS and first after this instal your grafic card and then the game with all patches starting from 1.
Do not start the game until you instal all patches.
good luck
sorry for bad englesh.

It seems there a confusion.
The updates should be only installed if you do not have Origin - For instance those wo have installed the game via the DVD and do not have a digital version.
Important Note If you have installed the game via ORIGIN, the game updates will be installed automatically - You do not have to install them manually - This workaround is for those who have installed the game via the DVD.

Here is a list of the workarounds that might fix the issue:
If you are having issues loading your games or are having issues while playing your game, you should try the Repair Install feature in Origin. Note: This applies to newer games downloaded via Origin. Older games may not have the Repair Install function.
This feature checks all local files on your computer against the files Origin has on their servers. If there are any corrupt files or discrepancies, those files will be replaced or downloaded again. The file check can take up to an hour to complete depending on the type of hardware you are using. Repair Install will first 'Check' the installation you have on your computer and then automatically download any replacement or missing files.
To use Repair Install for your game:

Ok....Ok mileyindifferent:
I stoped playng for 3-4 weeks i gues and today i come back to game and... again same problem.
I reinstaled the game( loosing my career after this), reinstal pathes fro, 1 to 5 in manual mode.
I'm sick of this problem, what's going on?
I need to format my pc every time i don't play this game for a long time?
I should buy more pc's and more game cd's i gues to avoid this problem.
This problem doesen't have a solution....I mean it has for....1-2 weeks
I deleted the registry files from Windows OS and started the game.
The OS regenerates them but stil no result.
Please take some time to analize this problem and come with an solution.
Sorry for bad englesh.
